Harper Realigns Football Staff

Jan. 16, 2008

NACOGDOCHES - Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack head football coach J.C. Harper announced changes to his staff Wednesday afternoon. Third-year assistant coach Chris Truax will remain the offensive line coach, as well as becoming the new recruiting coordinator. Todd Schonhar will take over the receivers, and become the 'Jacks' special teams coordinator. Arlington Nunn, who is entering his fourth season with the Lumberjacks, will move from receivers to cornerbacks in 2007, while second-year assistant Brandon North will coach tight ends.

"I'm excited that we were able to put our staff together in such a short amount of time," said Harper. "This is a tribute to the administration who moved quickly to make sure our staff was in place for the recruiting season and for our athletes when they returned to campus for the spring semester."

Harper added Shannon Dawson, David Gibbs, Eric Lokey and Kris Kocurek to his staff last week. Dawson is the 'Jacks' offensive coordinator, after a very successful stint at Millsaps College. He will also coach the 'Jacks' signal callers. Gibbs will take over as the new defensive coordinator, and coach safeties. Lokey will coach the SFA linebackers, while Kocurek will handle the 'Jacks' defensive line.

"The new roles on offense, defense and special teams are in place and we are moving on," said Harper. "We're excited about spring practice which will begin on Monday, March 31st, with our annual spring game on Saturday, April 19. The spring game will be in conjunction with the Mud Bugs & Mud Balls event on campus."
