Weather Cancels Tuesday Round at UTSA Invitational

Feb. 25, 2003

Results

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The first golf tournament of the spring season for the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team was shortened to only an 18-hole event after weather conditions forced the cancellation of today's round. The 'Jacks finished the shortened event in thirteenth place.

Teams were able to complete only 18 holes of play after freezing temperatures and heavy rain forced a suspension yesterday, during the second round of play. Teams went to the course this morning with plans to conclude the second round of play and have the tournament shortened to a 36-hole event, but weather conditions did not allow a resumption of play this morning.

SFA shot an opening round 325, with sophomore Trevor Sauntry leading the Lumberjacks with a 77.

Texas Tech, the 2001 champion of the event, won the 2003 title after an opening round 300.

SFA returns to action next week at the Moe O'Brien Invitational in Lake Charles, La.
