Ladyjack Basketball Blog

Nov. 17, 2007

Greetings from Jessica Gaines of the SFA Ladyjacks,

Well it has been 2 weeks since my last blog. I want to update to you with the Ladyjack basketball team. We won our two exhibition games against St. Mary's University and Huston-Tillotson University. The team played great in both games. Against St. Mary's, we won 84 -52 and 5 players were in double digits (Decreasha, Jordan, Tasha, Whitney and Ebony). Six days later we won our game against Huston Tillotson 96-34, three players were in double digits (Chantol, Decreasha and Nikki), and we had 60 rebounds.

We were on the road during our season opener and traveled to Louisiana to face University of New Orleans. We played hard but unfortunately came up short and lost 74-69. We rebounded 2 days later when we played Grambling State University at home, 95-57. In this, game six Ladyjacks (Jordan, Decreasha, Tasha, Nikki, Whitney, and I) were in double digits and again we had 60 rebounds. Our fans were great and very supportive. Our freshmen played with passion and showed no fear. Our team numbers have dwindled a little due to a couple of injuries but we are still working hard and everyone is doing what they can for us to continue to win. We continue to rally and seek to improve our performance and playing hard in pursuit of victory.

Our coaches continue to push us to be the best we can be. They demand and expect the best from everyone on the team and weakness is not an option.

Well, I'm off to prepare for the game on Friday against Tulane. The Ladyjacks would like to see you there. On behalf of the Ladyjacks, Happy Thanksgiving! Over the break, we will be playing in the El Paso Tournament.

So, until next time, I leave you with this quote from John Wooden,

"Once the opportunity arrives, it's too late to prepare."

The Ladyjacks will be ready!

Jess #11
